We are now partnering with Sankofa Outreach Connection for our upcoming Health & Wellness Festival! "The Sankofa Outreach Connection promotes awareness of and appreciation for women of color experiences through activities and events that enhance and strengthen cultural competence. The S.O.C. engenders the need for inter-generational to build connections and provide awareness and information in regards to wealth, health and support through education, cultural and social events and activities." Kaydee Vraspier, new NASW chair

Our own Day Hab Director, Kaydee Vraspier, is the new chair of the Southeast branch of the Iowa chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Congratulations, Kaydee!

Where: Robt A Lee Recreation Center, downtown Iowa City, in the gymnasium Date: Wednesday, August 16, 2017 Time: 3-6pm (table set-up starts at 2pm) Why: To be good to yourself! Learn tips to look after yourself in mind, body and spirit! HAVE FUN! There will be a giant bouncy slide, healthy snacks and lots of like-minded people welcoming our whole community! Exciting HUD funding update!

We’ve been awarded formal approval for the previously recommended down-payment funding for two more houses - to the tune of $87,000! Note the original total was increased by $15,000! And we were recommended and approved for more, too - $50,000 - to update our existing houses! Thank you, HUD, and thank you, Iowa City! We’re approved for the funds but it will be a couple of weeks before we receive them, and there is still documentation to be completed. But it’s all happening! On the other hand, unfortunately, Iowa City has recently declared a moratorium on issuing new rental permits until December 31st. We’re appealing that, because our clients have extreme need, and we want to get our new re
